PIONEER SKILLS TRAINING
By completing the F.O.R.T. requirements, the adult leader will be trained and certified in specific skill
areas in Fort Pontiac - Adobe Oven, Pioneer Cooking, Woodworking Shoppe, Tomahawk Range Officer,
Traditional Fire Starting and other Pioneer Skills. Then they may confidently
bring the hands-on experience to their own unit - and their unit back to Camp
Agawam, where they can practice their ‘new, old’ skills themselves. By
completing the entire F.O.R.T. skills experience, the leader can become a FORT
Pontiac Pioneer and earn their “Keys to the Fort.” Course fee is $60.00.
BLACKSMITHING LEADER TRAINING
By completing the F.O.R.T. Blacksmithing Leader Training, the adult leader will be trained and
certified in the basics of the craft, and in skills that they may confidently bring to their unit -
and bring their unit back to Agawam, where they can learn the art of blacksmithing themselves.
Participants will forge and keep several items that will be made using four different methods
and many techniques. Course fee is $75.00.
The training cost includes all materials, food, camping fees, and accreditations in becoming a Fort Pontiac –
CPT Pioneer. All skills are presented in a distinctive old world environment by skilled instructors from across
the council; each with specialized, youth oriented training. Ask your committee to support their unit by having
a leader trained so your scouts don’t miss-out on this unique opportunity! Space is limited.
