Here are some brief notes from Boy Scout Troop 1707 as you begin the second half of your Cub Scouting year:

  • Webelos Weekend reservation deadline is less than a week away, on January 15.  We are limited to 30 Webelos II and parents as overnight campers in the cabin (additional campers must sleep in tents).  Openings still remain, but it's first come - first served for the cabin.  Remember Webelos Weekend dates are January 22-24, 2010.  Location is Camp Rotary, which is located north of 29 Mile Road between Romeo Plank and North Avenue.  Permission slip, updated itinerary and map are attached.  Saturday campers should plan to arrive before 8:30AM (earlier if you'd like to build a model rocket).  All campers are invited to bring their own personal model rockets to launch.
    • Completed permission slips may be turned in at our Tuesday Jan 12 Troop meeting or mailed to the address indicated on slip.
  • AquaNaut badge will be offered on January 26, February 23 and March 23 during our regular Troop swims.  Webelos are invited to join in the wet fun on all three evenings even if they don't participate in the AquaNaut activity.  The January 26 and March 23 Troop swims will take place at Lamphere High School and February 23 will take place at Page Middle School.
    • Lamphere High School (Jan 26 & March 23) is located in Madison Heights on the north side of 13 Mile Road between John R. and Stephenson Hwy.  Enter the school at the multiple double doors located on the west side of the building. Locker room and pool will be to your left after entering.
    • Page Middle School (Feb 23) is also located in Madison Heights just north of 12 Mile road and east of John R.   Turn left on Edward Ave … which is the first street you can turn north on off 12 Mile Road east of John R.  Edward will dead-end into the parking lot for the school.  Drive to the southwest corner of the building to the double doors.  See attached map.
    • Troop 1707 has the pools reserved from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM on all three nights.  Plan to arrive a few minutes early to change and shower.  Trained life guards will be on duty.  Webelos should bring their own trunks, towel and goggles (if needed).  Parents and Leaders can swim, too, or observe from the stands.
  • A revised Webelos Activity Badge class schedule is attached.  Most will occur during our normal Tuesday evening meetings at Smith Middle School (7:00-8:30 PM).
  • We are booking our Ceremony Team and Adult Leaders for Blue and Gold Banquets and Crossovers.  Let us know if you'd like Troop 1707 to participate in those events.
